Borovets In the midst of the breathtaking Rila Mountains lies the premier Bulgarian ski resort of Borovets. In addition to spectacular skiing, Borovets has a lively apres-ski with bustling bars and a wide variety of restaurants and evening entertainment. At an altitude of 1320 metres (4290 feet), Borovets is an established ski resort with 50 kms of excellent marked pistes rising to 2500m (8400 ft). The skiing is excellent for beginners who, under the guidance of the ski school’s English speaking instructors quickly progress from the village nursery slopes. It also has a popular ski kindergarten for 4 to 7 year olds. Intermediate skiers have a wide choice of excellent skiing including a selection of wide sunny pistes at the top of the six-man gondola and long runs through the forest to the village. The first class lift system, which includes the famous 3 mile Yastrebets gondola, gives access to so many fantastic runs. A must for advanced skiers is the World Cup Run which, as the name suggests is a world class challenge. There are also wonderful opportunities for off-piste skiiing. Snowboarding has become increasingly popular in Borovets which is renowned as one of the best areas for snow boarding, snow mobiles and of course hunting.
Borovets is located at approx 65Km (40 miles) south of Sofia Airport. There are regular inexpensive busses going to Samokov and from there a minibus to Borovets. Alternatively you can take a (cheap) taxi. For peace of mind, you can book your return transfer through us (see Home Page). ****************************************** |
